« NIRJARA : one of the seven fundamental principles and refers to the shedding or removal of accumulated karmas from the atma (soul), essential for breaking free from samsara, the cycle of birth-death and rebirth by achieving moksha, liberation «
Nirjara is the first full lenght of the french one man band TATTVA.
It takes place, in a singular context. Initialy, the first EP " Leave The body, LIve the Soul" talks about the death only, in view of liberate the soul from the body, and begin the astral trip, to reach the rebirth.
The album starts with diphonic voices, like a kind of ritual Mass, to rise and celebrate the death of human body.
" In the Name of Nothing is volontary loud, mid tempo with melodic lines & growled scorched voices, to well introduce the next one ...
" The seeker of Light" which is more speed and relentless, with high double pedal swings. The end of this song is blasty, with blackdeath marks...and allows the third one .
" Old Star ", to begin on only guitar lines, without any bass or rythm. Until massive percussions, with agony screams, and this is the begining of the soul's suffering. Painfull memories, raw emotions, Old Star is the most emotional of the set.
Then, it continues with " Reversed Birth ", certainly the most Blackmetal song. Powerfull entry, with massive vocals, blasts and huge death deathened vocals in backing. The song at his middle, show a new mass, including tortured feelings to go on a somber ending, melodic
and stuning.
The next song " Rage " is simply more slower, with lot of melodic lines and a very progressive side...loudness and slow tune deliver a dark middle part, wich explodes on a dark and, blackened.
Afterward, Altar & Merge take place. This is two songs, but linked...Altar express the regrets, the point of no return for the soul's trip. So the song is voluntary haunting, full of sadness, to annouce the continuation with " Merge ".
Merge start very punchy, with raging riffing, to reflect the soul trip, near to approach the end. A new ambiant mid tempo starts at the middle, to create a floating atmospheric sensation...untill a short and speed taping, which close the composition.
Then " The Messenger " is the penultimate song of Nirjara. Simply melodic, fast, loud, blackened as possible, The messenger introduce the begining of deliverance. The soul approach the top of the Tower, all memories going back, and th processus is near to be achieved. The end is brutal, gutural, and full of rage.
And, to conclude Nirjara...the eponym song...is the end of everything, or the infinity of new possibilities...?
Nirjara , very heavy, blackened styled & melodic on all the song, come to an end by the return of diphonic voices and primal screams, calling for the soul liberation...
NONE a opéré un virage dans Where Life Should Be et ça se confirme davantage dans Damp Chill of Life. Insoutenable... Jordan Vauvert
A truly stellar death/doom album with heavy doses of black metal. Tracks like Isolation, Child of Light, and Broken Hymns deliver the sorrowful and icy tone of this album, elevated by the stirring cello compositions of Raphael Weinroth-Browne. The album delivers a deeply satisfying crescendo in Becoming Intangible before stirring the soul once again with Epilogue. Matt Richardson
Jordan Vauvert
